POSITION SUMMARY Provide recovery coaching services at United Summit Center serving as a motivator, recovery resource broker, mentor and liaison.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1.

High School Diploma or equivalent.

2.

Certification in good standing by a certifying body recognized by the WV BMS (Bureau for Medical Services)

3.

West Virginia state and Federal criminal background check required for DHHR WV CARES regulated area

4.

Valid Driverís License and Insurance

 

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1.

Certificate of completion of spirituality for Recovery Coaches.

2.

Certificate of completion of Recovery Coaching in Professional Settings.

 

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position.  They are not intended to be constructed as an all-inclusive list of all responsibilities and duties.  Other duties may be assigned.

1.

Provide recovery coaching primarily in hospital emergency rooms.

2.

Collaborate with other Emergency Department personnel and staff to share information and get direction.

3.

Facilitate timely referrals and placements from hospital to treatment/recovery support services.

4.

Connect patients to a larger community of care.

5.

Follow up recovery coaching with recoverees as requested.

6.

Engage in recovery planning with recoveree.

7.

Educate and assist family members as requested.

8.

Serve as a recovery ambassador.

9.

Participate with ongoing recovery coach training, education and performance support.

10.

Report and record keeping as required by hospital.

1.

Must meet Department of Laborís MEDIUM duty standard (MEDIUM WORK- exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly). Able to bend, stoop, reach and be capable of normal rotation, standing and walking for a long shift.

2.

Able to lift 40 pounds from floor to waist. Able to ambulate, position, turn and pull up self-assisting adult patients.

Able to wear latex or vinyl gloves, with frequent changes and hand washing. Able to tolerate working with and around noxious odors.

2.

May be scheduled to work various shifts based on departmental and patient needs. May be required to travel between facilities/buildings.  Work may be performed in acute hospital setting.

 

May be exposed to virus, disease, and infection from patients and specimens in working environment.  May be exposed to traumatic situations including psychiatric crisis, physical injuries and death.

 

 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1.

Understanding of the addiction recovery process.

2.

Understanding of medication-assisted recovery and practices.

 

3.

Familiarity with local support services, resources and recovery community.

4.

Capability of building an effective coach-recoveree relationship.

5.

Demonstrated skills in active listening, motivational interviewing, awareness of self, and treating people as resources.

6.

Understanding of and ability to maintain appropriate boundaries.

7.

Ability to work within a hospital setting.

8.

Availability to work different shifts as necessary.

9.

Cross-cultural skills and experience with culturally diverse populations.

Bilingual abilities.
